Try putting C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe in the run box and see what happens. So I'll create a shortcut for that and that's not bad. I'm thinking the problem could be as much with the run box as with the msconfig file.

If I delete the MSConfig.exe.bak to the recycle bin, then when I try to run it from the command line I get a message saying "windows cannot find "msconfig". It's there physically (I had to manually find it - Search won't work either) I think it's a registry error. it has come up in the search but does nothing when i double click it. thnx Pages 1 2 >> Next… This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.

Please try the request again. Msconfig Windows 7 Location I can paste or type the above path in the Run command and it will access msconfig. second best 14:09 19 Sep 03 anyone else have a suggestion?

I cannot open MSCONFIG in safe mode either. The processes that are supposed to initate with MSCONFIG are all seen in task manager. That string does give me the utility. If I can get this running properly again I will definitely image the disc this time. What can cause this? I am sure that is the correct command, go to run, type the command in and put your windows CD in the drive and reboot.

There must be a way to restore MSCONFIG via the registry or replace that one file. Weirder things have worked on occasion!
That machine most probably needs a Clean Install or Clean Image put back on it.
