I also have a NAS box (A Buffalo LS-CHL LinkStation Live) and every machine can connect to that. Are you logged in with administrative authority? I've removed and reinstalled "Client for Microsoft Networks", "File and Printer Sharing". I cannot ping the problem computer, and when telnetting to the NAS box that is also unable to ping it.
