This I found usefull because there is a program that I use that is skinnable and uses pcx files for skinning. used to be that IE didn't support transparancy in PNG's.. And yes, IE7 now supports transparency and as it's the most recent version of the browser that's the reason I didn't mention about earlier versions, again to keep bulk down.
