I've used System Restore numerous times since 2002 and it's extremely rare for it not to work in my experience. Must have been my antivirus (AVG) or something, but either way worked like a charm! On another note, I wish there were some recourse for windows forced upgrade ploy, because our other laptop went through a similar near death experience after the upgrade and had to System Restore Error 0x81000203 I had everything backed up to an external hard drive, but it crashed and I can't get anything off of it.
