chrisd87: I had previously tried to change the drive letter through the cmd prompt but it resulted in an error message (its exact iterations I cannot recall with my goldfish memory, Please give me actions that WON'T delete my files inside the drive, just give me that answer if there are no more options left. I followed your advice step by step and lost all of the files on my external drive, only THEN to see the warning that this would happen. Windows 10 is an unfinished OS that should not have been released before more bugs were ironed out. See if you can find yours under the western digital list and see what error yours falls under. I checked in diskmgmt. when i tried to rigt click it or double-click it my computer will lag and sometimes will hang and will give me a 'not responding' window.
I tried connecting the EHD to the other two laptops I have, it does work fine. I believe it should be as unallocated.
